Oppo generally targets the youth market and develops smartphone with features and specs that the youth will love to use. Keeping that thing in mind, Oppo has now launched its all-new Oppo F17 Pro in the Indian smartphone market. Besides, with its new phone, the company has also targeted the premium budget smartphone market.
The stylish and bright punch-hole display, a powerful 4000mAh battery, and the rear quad-camera setup are the things that can satisfy the users. But should you really go for this model? Well, it’s time to find it out. Keep reading to get your answer.
Specification of Oppo F17 Pro
The smartphone comes with a FullHD+ 6.4-inch Super AMOLED screen having the 20:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, you get the Helio P95 SoC from MediaTek, 128GB ROM, and 5GB of RAM. You can increase the storage space using its dedicated MicroSD slot.
In terms of cameras, on the rear side, there are two 2MP monochrome lenses, a 48MP primary lens, and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. On the front, you will get a 16MP primary camera with a 2MP depth sensor lens. A 4000mAh battery powers the device, and it runs on ColorOS 7.2 based on Android 10.
Display and Design of F17 Pro
Well, if you compared with other devices, you will find the F17 Pro quite unique. But the design is inspired by Oppo’s old smartphones. The back panel is made of plastic and has a dual-tone finish that looks stunning. Besides, it also comes with a matte finish. On the front top left side, there is a punch-hole that houses the front camera. The rear camera sensors are placed in a grid orientation, which gives the device a super stylish look.
Talking about the display, the bezels are very thin, and you will offer a great viewing experience. With the punch-hole display style, Oppo has replaced the notch, and it seems that the company has taken the right decision. But you will find the punch-hole very noticeable and bigger in size as it houses two camera lenses.
On the bottom side, it has a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port, primary microphone, and the speaker grille. The SIM tray, the MicroSD slot, and volume buttons are located on the left side. The secondary microphone is located on the top side. The phone also has an in-display fingerprint sensor for faster unlocking along with face unlock. Oppo F17 Pro supports an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The Super AMOLED display can produce 2400 x 1080 pixels of display resolution. The color accuracy is quite good. But the refresh rate is not so good, so while gaming, you may not get the smoother gaming experience.
UI, Software, and Performance of Oppo F17 Pro
At this price range, you may not find the MediaTek Helio P95 SoC is a good option. However, combined with an 8GB of RAM, it offers decent performance. It can easily handle multiple apps at the same time. However, while playing games (graphics-oriented), you will face lags. This device is not for gamers.
The device is currently running on ColorOS 7.2 that is developed on Android 10. The user interface of ColorOS 7.2 is quite smooth. You will get the dark-mode option, a theme store, and other useful things in the device. Even though there are a few issues in the software, the company may soon release an OTA update for the fix.
Oppo F17 Pro’s Camera Department
As discussed above, Oppo F17 Pro’s rear side carries an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, two 2MP monochrome lenses, and a 48MP primary camera. You will7 get Slow-Mo, Night Mode, Portrait Mode, Professional Mode, Time-Lapse, and other camera features with this device.
It takes good quality photos under better lighting conditions. The focus speed is quick, and the picture quality is quite sharp. You will get photos with a good level of detail. However, when it comes to low-light conditions, don’t expect to get a good result. The photos will come with little disturbance.
Speaking about the front camera, the dual-camera setup takes a decent quality selfie. It also has the beauty mode to tone your skin to look beautiful. The depth sensor works really well while taking selfies in portrait mode. However, the camera’s edge detection capability is quite bad.
Battery Performance of F17 Pro
In terms of battery, Oppo has done a great work by offering a 4000mAh battery. With light to medium usage, you can easily get up to 1.5 days of battery backup. On heavy usage, the phone can run for one day.
The battery supports VOOC charging, and you will get a 30W faster charger with this device. You can charge the device 100 percent within one and a half hours.
Final words
The cost of 8GB RAM and 128GB ROM is Rs. 22,990. The overall performance of the device is quite satisfactory, and the design looks stunning. All thanks to its dual-tone matt finish. But don’t expect to get better performance with this phone.
